A new gas tax law faces serious opposition from over half the Garden State’s residents. Some analysts are saying that it may cost the average New Jersey resident more than $300 a year. A Rutgers Eagleton survey found that 6 out of 10 New Jersey residents disagree with the gas tax increase.
Public officials have considered raising the gas tax as a means to rebuild the state’s deteriorating bridges and roads.
This plan is also receiving attention following a $1 increase at Port Authority tolls that will cost families hundreds more a year.
