A recent study ranked the deadliest roads for fatal accidents in New Jersey.

All in all the amount of fatal accidents in the Garden State has reduced to 508 collisions and 542 recorded fatalities. This works out to more than one person dying every day on state roads.

With various levels of congestion throughout the state, certain roads are magnets for accidents.

As the most densely populated state in the country, that state has a fair share of traffic accidents.

Specifically on the network of highways and county roads, NJ drivers have a lot to look out for when it comes to safety on the road.

Ocean County leads the pack when it comes to deadly road accidents and traffic fatalities. In 2013, there were 24 fatalities in Ocean County on just four stretches of roads.

  1. Route 1 in Middlesex County (7 fatalities)

  2. Route 78 in Hunterdon County (7 fatalities)

  3. Route 70 in Ocean County (6 fatalities)

  4. Interstate 195 in Ocean County (6 fatalities)

  5. Route 539 in Ocean County (6 fatalities)

  6. Route 37 in Ocean County (6 fatalities)

  7. Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County (5 fatalities)

  8. Route 559 in Atlantic County (5 fatalities)

  9. Route 73 in Camden County (5 fatalities)

  10. Route 21 in Essex County (5 fatalities)
